“Am I dressed nice enough? Do I have enough to talk about? What if I don’t sound smart? What if something is in my teeth”?
If this has happened to you, welcome to a special group of people called humanity.
It’s super common, and frustrating. But today you’re in luck. I’m going to give you a simple 5 step guide to make things much easier.

Tip #1: Ask for their name and use it often in conversation.
Purpose: To show you genuinely care about who they are.

Tip #2: Listen to learn, and not always to reply.
Purpose : To gain knowledge and understanding. When you listen to learn, you are focused on them. When you listen to reply, you’re constantly thinking of how you can reply to what’s being said. Keep the focus on your new friend.

Tip #3: Speak to them as if they are already your best friend.
Purpose: “Be the change you want to see”. Speaking as if you already know them makes you both feel more comfortable. So let your guard down. Be genuine.

Tip #4: Show them a picture of something (or someone) special to you.
Purpose : To give your new friend a glimpse into your interests and values.

Tip #5: Share a personal story.
Purpose : To establish genuine trust.

My Personal Example
If I were trying to befriend you (and I am) I’d most likely say and do the following:
Hey! My name is Jeffrey Chark, and it’s a pleasure to meet you. I was born and raised in Baytown, Texas and I’ve lived here all 27 years of my life. For the last 3 years I’ve been married to my lovely wife Victoria.
Normally I don’t go around showing pictures of my family. But I believe I can trust you, so here goes!

Now let me tell you about why I decided to start this blog. This is something very personal to me. So please read carefully!
I have a very strong belief in being the best possible version of oneself. Additionally, anything worth doing is worth doing well.

When it comes to style, I believe you should always put your best foot forward. But this is the problem. Some people desire to dress better, but don’t know how to. Thats where we come in.
This blog is intended to be a place where men and women can come to learn more about dressing well. Think of it as a educational community.

With that being said, I want to do something for you. I’m formally inviting you to our community. Because you’ve read this far, I know you belong here.
All you have to do is subscribe by filling out the pop up form on our website. It’ll ask for your name, and a good email address. And that’s it! You’re in!

Let me finish by saying it’s been a true joy getting to meet you today. Oh, and one more thing. My name is Jeffrey, but you can just call me Jeff. Why? Because we are friends now. Alright, catch ya later!
