History
Mont Blanc began its iconic History in 1906. Their iconic logo is patterned after the snow-capped mountains located in Western Europe.
Additionally, their name is derived from a specific mountain, Mont Blanc, which stands at a elevation of 4,807 meters or 15,774 feet.
One way that Mont Blanc distinguishes themselves from others is that they do not refer to their products as pens.
Instead they refer to them as writing instruments. These instruments are crafted in Hamburg, Germany.
While calling their pens “writing instruments” may seem like a mere marketing ploy, in reality it speaks to the way Mont Blanc views themselves.
There is a tremendous amount of time that goes into making these writing instruments. Skilled teams of designers, artisans, and craftsmen work tirelessly to create a product that will be admired by all.
Mont Blanc has set the bar extremely high, and they realize that they will be held to that high standard at all times.
Today I’ll review one of their pens and share my honest thoughts on if I feel it’s worth the money or not.
Most Mont Blanc pens are inspired by something in the world. Important historical figures, celebrities, and even nature itself. Let’s look at the inspiration for the pen I purchased.

Why Did I Buy This Pen?
I’d be the first to tell you that Mont Blanc has excellent marketing. Over time they’ve found a way to make the name of their company synonymous with luxury pens.
Think about that for a moment.
When you think of luxury watches what brand do you likely think of first?
Rolex.
What these two companies have done is create a product people aspire to have and to own. Clearly I am one of those people.
And while I don’t desire a Rolex, I have desired a Mont Blanc pen for quite some time now.
Perhaps the most gripping reason behind my purchase is what this pen represents to me.
This pen is carefully crafted and forged with some of the finest materials available. It’s stunning to look at and hold in your hand.
But for all of its beauty, it also serves a utilitarian purpose. It puts ideas on paper. Ideas that can then be shared with others for years to come.
So special in fact, that I’ve realized this is how I enjoy spending my time.
Rather than shopping, playing basketball or video games, I’ve truly fallen in love with writing.
This pen was a significant purchase, but it truly allows me to enjoy the act of writing that much more.
When I’m at work I look forward to coming home and writing out my thoughts and ideas on paper. It sounds silly, but I’m just being honest.
I love the way the pen feels in my hand as the weight is distributed very evenly. Writing with this pen is something I always look forward to doing.
Additionally I should note that instead of the traditional metal rollerball tip mine has a felt tip which is called a fineliner. This makes writing extra smooth and comfortable.
Was This Pen Worth It?
Short answer yes. For the long answer, keep reading.
I must say that this pen was definitely worth it for me. Please take note of my choice of words. It was a great purchase for me.
I study weekly, prepare these blog posts, and often take notes on the new things I learn. And because I have such a strong desire for learning, this pen has allows me to document that information for future use.
A wise friend of mine once said:
Between the Bible, Spotify podcasts , YouTube , Skillshare, and Babbel, I’m always trying to learn something new. The things I learn I bring to you here on this blog.
This pen allows me to enjoy the process of taking notes that much more. It also has caused me to feel some level of success.
I don’t glory in how much I paid for it, but I am happy I didn’t have to finance it or go into debt to make it mine.
One of our golden rules here at A Step Above is :
Conclusion
As a minimalist, I enjoy this pen even more. It is without question the nicest pen I own.
To be honest if I had multiple Mont Blanc
pens I would probably value this one less. Having only one luxury pen allows me to focus that much more on it whenever I get to use it.
Hopefully this blog post has been insightful to you. We should never derive our sense of value by the things we own, but things can serve a purpose.
Today I’ve shared how this pen allows me to enjoy writing and creating good content even more. Hopefully it inspires you to find what can enhance your life in a meaningful way.
Until next time, yall have a good one.
