Today we are featuring a brand new Member Spotlight!
But before we begin, did you know?
A Step Above Style is more than just a blog. It’s a community.
A community of ladies and gentlemen who strive toward the common goal of being the best version of themselves possible.
Below is a fascinating interview we had with one of our valued members Ms. Brittney Condren.

Introduction
ASAS Blog: Hey! Thanks for joining us today. Please formally introduce yourself to the Community.
Brittney : Hey everyone! I’m Brittney Condren and it’s so good to be here today!
ASAS Blog : Awesome, we’re off to a great start already. And how old are you?
Brittney : I am 28 years old.
ASAS Blog: And where is your hometown?
Brittney : Dallas, TX.
ASAS Blog : What is a funny story your family tells about you that you’d like to share?
Brittney : I have always been known for my vivid and strong imagination. This started at a very very young age.
As my mother tells it, I was playing with my dolls in the other room around age 4. Happily playing along until I started to cry. My mom ran in to see what the issue was. I told her I was crying because my baby wouldn’t walk to me.
Needless to say my mom and family knew from then on I would be a very special child. 😂
ASAS Blog : What are some of your hobbies/ interests?
Brittney : I love crafts and decorating!! I also recently purchased a sewing machine that I am hoping to learn to use as well. Writing is also a huge hobby of mine.
As far as interests, I have a really deep interest in the foster care system and becoming a foster parent. I call it my heart project. I am connected with several organizations that celebrate the joys of adopting through the foster care system, but also just support the families that open their homes to the ones most vulnerable among us.
It’s truly a calling and a burden that I pray more families begin to develop. There are so many children, shockingly in this great nation, that are on the streets or between homes. It’s something that is never far from my mind and heart.
Work

ASAS Blog : What is your occupation?
Brittney : I am currently the Inspections Administrator at Allied Fire Protection.
ASAS Blog : What is a secret about the industry you work in that most people don’t know about?
Brittney : I think most people are not aware of the money that can be made in the fire industry.
Due to the necessity of compliant fire equipment for ANY building that will have people in it, there is always a demand. And the demand is higher if you have certifications in the field as well.
It’s a very lucrative business, with solid job security.
ASAS Blog : What is one lesson you’ve learned on your job that you think everyone should know about?
Brittney : Collaboration and Communication! These two skills are needed not only in our work life, but social life as well.
For instance if you know someone is really great at baking, but you don’t know if your personalities are compatible, collaboration is working with someone in your strengths to reach a common goal.
ASAS Blog : And why do you feel like that lesson is important for people to learn?
Brittney : Without communication, we can’t recruit people to our circles, and without collaborating with those individuals, we will never see what unique strengths we as individuals can bring to a group and make it that much better and exponentially more productive.
ASAS Blog : If you could start a business tomorrow, what would it be?
Brittney : I suppose for me, there are two answers to this; one I would do if I wasn’t worried about making profit, and the other would be for profit.
The profitable business I would like to start is a job finding service. I would assist clients updating resumes and looking for jobs in their areas of experience. I do this on the side for friends and family but I would love to make it an official business one day.
If I were to start a nonprofit business, I would build a home for foster children and orphans. It would be an in house therapy center, with farm animals, a fishing pond, a rec center, on campus counselors, and a place to continue their education. I could talk for hours about this dream, but that is the basic idea. It would be called The Whitney House.
Life

ASAS Blog : Are you a introvert or a extrovert?
Brittney : I am an extrovert!
ASAS Blog : If you could be remembered for one thing, what would it be?
Brittney : I would want to be remembered as someone who refused to give up hope on people.
ASAS Blog : If you could give your 18-year- old self advice, what would it be?
Brittney : I would tell myself that God’s opinion is the most important. Work on keeping that straight, and the rest will fall into place.
ASAS Blog : Tell us about a influential person in your life and how they impacted you.
Brittney : I would say my Pastor, Justin Jackson.
When I first started attending church in Houston, I truly was skeptical of how kind everyone was. Surely nobody could be THIS generous and not expect something in return, or be trying to control us.
Well. I was proven wrong. I have watched my pastor show Gods love and mercy time after time to anyone that was willing to come. My pastor showed me a clearer picture of who Jesus is. And for that I will forever be thankful.
ASAS Blog : If you could have coffee with any historical figure, who would you choose, and why?
Brittney : As a lover of our great country’s history, I would love to sit down with Benjamin Franklin and talk with him about the meetings him and others had to found out nation.
I am also very curious to know what process of thought led to him putting a key on a kite and going out into a storm. Important questions must be answered.
Personal

ASAS Blog : What is your biggest pet peeve?
Brittney : One of my biggest pet peeves is table manners. If you do not know that burping or licking all your fingers at the table is rude…I will gladly educate you in all love and friendship.
ASAS Blog : Describe your personal style in 3 words or less.
Brittney : Feminine and Energetic.
ASAS Blog : Tell us one way the ASAS blog has benefited you?
Brittney : I have greatly enjoyed the articles on investing! That subject is very exhaustive and can be very overwhelming but ASAS broke things down very clearly and concisely.
ASAS Blog : What is one question you wish I’d asked you, and how would you have answered?
Brittney : What is a guilty pleasure purchase that not many people know you buy?
Brittney : Mini Brands. It’s a problem. Y’all pray for me.
Closing

ASAS Blog : Anything you’d like to promote? (Social media page, business, etc) How can people reach you?
Brittney :
Jan 1st 2022 I started a podcast called Broken Armed and Dangerous and we are at nearly 1,000 listens!! Right now it is only available on Spotify, but eventually I hope to have it available on more platforms.
We discuss faith, family, dad jokes, embarrassing situations that I seem to be pulled into, and there is one episode every 5 weeks that is solely for children. On that episode I am able to read a childrens book series that I have been writing for quite some time. I would LOVE for you to tune in and join the family.
