Today we are featuring a brand new Member Spotlight!
But before we begin, did you know?
A Step Above Style is more than just a blog. It’s a community.
A community of ladies and gentlemen who strive toward the common goal of being the best version of themselves possible.
Below is a fascinating interview we had with one of our valued members Mr. Tony Gonzalez.
Introduction
ASAS Blog : Hey! Thanks for joining us today. Please formally introduce yourself to the Community.
Tony : For sure, my name is Tony Gonzalez.
ASAS Blog : Awesome, we’re off to a great start already. And how old are you?
Tony : I’m 24 years old.
ASAS Blog: And where is your hometown?
Tony : Baytown, TX.
ASAS Blog : What is a funny story your family tells about you that you’d like to share?
Tony : I find it amusing that my family says my life is like Charlie Brown, and that whatever can go wrong will go wrong. For example, taking 1 hour to complete an estimated 20 minute mechanical procedure on my car, haha!
ASAS Blog : What are some of your hobbies/ interests?
Tony : I enjoy going with friends to car shows and listening to the roaring engines at the racetrack.
Also, I like trying out new restaurants with my girlfriend and that she recommends, especially those with sushi.
Another hobby of mine is hanging out with the people from church and playing all kinds of indoor and outdoor sports.
Work
ASAS Blog : What is your occupation?
Tony : Currently, I work as a physical therapist assistant, but I am pursuing the career of a physical therapist.
ASAS Blog : What is a secret about the industry you work in that most people don’t know about?
Tony : In the industry, some settings pay more or offer better benefits than others. For example, a clinic of sports physical therapy may offer less benefits than working at a skilled nursing facility or nursing home.
There is always room to move around and spark new interests to avoid being bored of the same position.
ASAS Blog : What is one lesson you’ve learned on your job that you think everyone should know about?
Tony : I’ve learned and been impacted by the reactions of those that can take their first step without a cane or a walker.
It really is the little things that count, and your pride can hold you back from progressing if you’re focused on not falling.
ASAS Blog : And why do you feel like that lesson is important for people to learn?
Tony : I’d like to note this lesson because it can be applied in a physical, mental, or spiritual aspect in life.
ASAS Blog : If you could start a business tomorrow, what would it be?
Tony : I would open a car washing business. I used to wash, vacuum and detail the inside and outside of cars for friends and coworkers to earn a little extra cash.
Hand-washing my own car is something I enjoy doing and sometimes find therapeutic.
Life
ASAS Blog : Are you a introvert or a extrovert?
Tony : I consider myself an introvert. Although most of my hobbies involve being around other people, I really value the time I have to myself and clear my mind.
ASAS Blog : If you could be remembered for one thing, what would it be?
Tony : I’d like to be remembered for my smile because it indicates the joy and happiness I share with others.
Also, being a Christian, I’d like that happiness to be remembered as something stemmed from God.
ASAS Blog : If you could give your 18-year- old self advice, what would it be?
Tony : I would want to warn him that life is much fulfilling serving the Lord, and being tough is not something worth proving.
ASAS Blog : Tell us about a influential person in your life and how they impacted you.
Tony : As corny as this may sound, an influential person in my life is my girlfriend, Hannah.
She’s impacted my life by bringing me close to God and changing my life around. Because of her impact on me, I’m less stressed and worried.
Furthermore, she is a person to lean on and seek a suggestion from whenever I am pondering on a decision.
ASAS Blog : If you could have coffee with any historical figure, who would you choose, and why?
Tony : It would interesting to have coffee with Jesus, of course. I would be intrigued to listen and hear his love for people, and the thoughts of facing such adversity.
Personal
ASAS Blog : What is your biggest pet peeve?
Tony : This one may be when someone asks a question but does not want to hear me give a complete answer. Then, other person tends to raise their voice to try and speak over.
ASAS Blog : Describe your personal style in 3 words or less.
Tony : Chill, varies, comfortable.
ASAS Blog : Tell us one way the ASAS blog has benefited you?
Tony : Undoubtedly, identifying the classifications of leather. I used to think that genuine leather was really “genuine,” but now I pay more attention to the materials of my clothes and shoes for durability and comfort.
ASAS Blog : What is one question you wish I’d asked you, and how would you have answered?
Tony : What 3 things do I look for in a friend or partner?
Tony : Independence, loyalty, and compassion for others.
Closing
ASAS Blog : Anything you’d like to promote? (Social media page, business, etc) How can people reach you?
Tony : Follow me on Instagram Instagram: @c6_tony_
