Are you a CEO? A “Christmas & Easter Only” type of church attendee? If so, this blog post is just for you.
It’s also for those who may just need a few reminders of how one should dress when attending a church service. It’s a perfect time to address the topic with Easter just around the corner.
Background
Easter (or Resurrection Sunday as some prefer to call it) is one of the most significant days of the year to the Christian believer. Because it was on this day that Jesus Christ rose again after conquering death, hell, and the grave.
I bring this up because if you are a CEO you should know what you are getting into.
We You’re not just attending a “common” service, but rather you’ll be a part of something very sacred and meaningful to all Christian believers.
So with all that in mind, let’s establish a clear goal and then work our way towards it.
The Goal
If you are a CEO, chances are you are going to church this Easter Sunday because you were invited by someone you care about.
With that in mind, most of what you do this day is just to make them happy.
So your goal for Easter will likely look something like this :
Okay, now that we know what we have a clear goal, here are 5 tips to help you get achieve it.
5 Tips For Easter Sunday
1. Set The Alarm Clock
If you’ve been invited to attend a church service, you can show respect just by arriving at the agreed time.
As a CEO (or someone who rarely attends church ) it’s a simple yet powerful gesture to arrive on time.
Easter Sunday only happens once a year, so make it count by arriving on time for the service.
2. Pick The Right Outfit
Disclaimer: You are going to a church. To believer’s, this means you are going to the house of God.
Whether or not you agree with that it’s the house of God irrelevant. Why?
Because you are going to a place where the prevailing thought by the majority of the people there is “this is a holy place.”
(But there is no pressure. You don’t have to agree with everything. Today is about making someone else feel good. Keep your goal in mind).
So do not wear any outfit that would take away from our previously established goal. For those who may have forgotten, our goal is:
What not to wear:
- Baseball caps and hats
- Shirts with offensive language or images
- Revealing clothing (showing too much skin, too tight, too short, etc.)
- Tattered clothing
- Sunglasses indoors (don’t get me started)
- Etc.
What you could wear
Gentlemen
- A light colored button-down shirt with a collar such as white, or light blue.
- Tie (necktie or bow tie)
- Blazer or Sports Coat
- Suit
- Leather dress shoes (oxfords, derbies, or loafers) in a light, medium, or dark brown color
- Slacks, Trousers, Suit Pants, or Dark Denim Jeans in good condition
Ladies
- Think about wearing a dress as churches are traditionally considered formal places . Pick a color that compliments your skin tone
- Pantyhose is a viable option as it helps with modesty
- Heels (that you can comfortably walk in )
- A “intentional” hairstyle. (However you style your hair should look like you spent time on it rather than just brushing it )
Notes
-Iron, steam, or press your clothing. Wrinkles are your enemy.
-Guys tuck your shirt in, and wear a belt. Trust me on this one.
-Ladies, remember “If it’s not for sale don’t advertise it.” You will be respected for your modesty.

3. Be Social
I realize that not all of my readers are Christians and thats just fine for what we are discussing today.
Because today we are just focusing on being present, respectful, and proper; mainly for the sake of the person who invited you to church.
But don’t miss out on this opportunity to meet someone new. Say hello to the people around you. Offer a warm and inviting smile. Ask where they are from.
You will never regret being kind. Even if they won’t see you again until Christmas (I’m joking relax) it will be a nice gesture and you’ll be remembered for all the right reasons.
4. Be Respectful
I’m going to give you some rapid-fire tips on how to be respectful in any church.
Whether they might be ok with any of the below items, it’s better to be safe than sorry.
- Spit out your gum before you even get out of the car
- Put your phone on silent.
- Don’t bring food & drinks in the sanctuary
- Don’t talk while the minister is preaching
- Don’t fall asleep
Instead you should do these things
- Brush your teeth and keep mints on you to make a great impression
- Keep your phone in your pocket, purse, or car
- Eat breakfast before you come (maybe with the person who invited you)
- Listen to what the minister has to say
- Get up and use the restroom or the water fountain if you become drowsy
5. Listen
As I mentioned in Tip #3, I realize not all my readers are Christians. Christians find their values in the Bible which is the Word of God.
If you’re not a Christian, you most likely found your values somewhere else. I’m assuming here (and you know what they say about that) that you believe you have a open mind correct?
I want to give you something to consider.
Have you ever wanted to explain to someone why you love something so much? Like why you enjoy a certain restaurant or a like a certain brand of clothing.
On Sunday morning you’ll be listening to someone tell you about someone they love very much.
Be just as open-minded about the message you hear as you would want someone else to be when you explained your values.
Show courtesy just by hearing them out.
